New datasets (November 2024 - June 2025)
The KNMI Data Platform is continuously updated and new datasets and new versions of datasets have been published the past few months.
New datasets
-
Potential weather warnings upcoming week: This dataset contains weather warnings which are currently in effect, as well as potential warnings which may or may not come into effect at a later date.
-
Cloud-modified UV index: Cloud-free and cloud-modified UV index data for an area covering The Netherlands.
-
Seamless precipitation forecast - 5 minute exceedance probabilities: PILOT: Seamless ensemble precipitation forecast probabilities up to 6 hours ahead, per 5 minutes, over the Netherlands.
-
EMADDC Historical Dataset: EMADDC has undertaken the reprocessing of all historical data beginning from 2016 until the beginning of 2024. This dataset is now made available as open data.
-
Meteorological data from RACMOv2.3 used to calculate discharges from the Meuse River in the EMFloodresilience project: For the KNMI'23 climate scenarios, 16 members were generated with RACMO (Regional Atmospheric Climate Model) v2.3 data for the historical period 1950-2014.
-
Frequency tables 1991-2020: Frequency tables for various meteorological quantities for various KNMI observation stations, for the period 1991-2020.
-
SYNOP - Hourly synoptical observations of stations in the Caribbean: On Bonaire, Saba and St. Eustatius hourly fully automated synoptic in-situ observations are performed.
-
Meteorological data from RACMOv2.3 for the STOWA drought statistics: For the KNMI'23 climate scenarios, 240 years of daily data of RACMO (Regional Atmospheric Climate Model) v2.3 are available. For hydrological models, however, it is not feasible to run 240 years. For this reason, 30-year periods are derived that are optimally representative for the whole 240-year period.
New versions of datasets
-
Ensemble precipitation forecasts made with Quantile Regression Forests and deterministic Harmonie-Arome inputs: A gridded 51-member ensemble of precipitation forecasts that are created using a tree-based machine learning method, quantile regression forests (QRF), and inputs from the deterministic Harmonie-Arome (HA) Cy43 forecasts. This dataset replaces the 2021 version of this dataset.
-
KNMI'23 - Representative climate years for the urban environment corresponding to the KNMI'23 climate scenarios: This dataset contains for the hourly meteorological input that is necessary to provide the energy demand for buildings. This dataset replaces the first version of this dataset.
-
Seamless precipitation forecast - 5 minute ensemble members: PILOT: Seamless ensemble precipitation forecast members up to 6 hours ahead, per 5 minutes, over the Netherlands. This pilot dataset will replace Precipitation - radar/gauge 5-minute ensemble nowcast of precipitation over the Netherlands.
-
KNMI’23 climate scenario data for official data portal with extra variables: The KNMI'23 climate scenarios are based on 240 years (8 ensembles of 30 years each) of RACMO (Regional Atmospheric Climate Model) v2.3 data for every horizon/scenario. This version contains four additional variables compared to version 2.0.
